ElT Urban Mobility projects aim to acelerate positive change in mobility to make urban spaces more liveable. As battery electric buses have been launched in many cities, with many available charging technologies and operational schemes, this project aimed to develop a decision support system to design the optimal charging system for a given city.
Data gathered in 5 European cities were considered and a pilot study in Lisbon analysed the operations of a bus line using exclusively battery electric buses. Almadesign addressed the goals, needs, and actions of passengers, drivers, maintenance personnel, and city planners in a "stakeholder matrix" and the different touch points in an "electric route map".
By contributing to the visualization of the future scenario, we transformed a typical bus shelter into a "mobility hub" , combining the passenger interfaces - seating, shading, connectivity - with the bus charging system, and a multimodal interface for bike/scooter sharing.
