The impact of the pandemic on  COVID-19 in Portugal around the worls has forced health professionals and the scientific community to find new therapeutic solutions and equipments. The ability to implement solutions has been limited by the scarcity of health supplies and equipment and government restrictions. The delay in ventilatory support has been identified as a strong contributor to avoid mortality. Non-invasive solutions, in particular the helmet solution with CPAP added to a high flow gas mixture flow generator, has a remarkable robustness and efficiency in the effective treatment of cases.
